How long has it been?

Wow. I was just thinking, "It's been a while since I've blogged." Then I logged in. My WORD. A MONTH? How did that happen?

Oh, yeah... I was traveling. Never mind. I don't usually have the inclination to blog while I'm on the road. Something about working all the time and then doing schoolwork that takes the desire to type on the computer away.

Anyway, here I am, and I have new fodder for my blog. Physical fitness! Dw's family decided it would be "fun" to start a "Biggest Loser" style fitness contest. We're all supposed to put $100 in the pot and whoever has gained the highest level of fitness compared to his or her current level of fitness wins the $$$.

I actually have been looking for something that would motivate me to change my fitness habits. I have grown very, well, disgusted by the way I look in pictures. Plus, I can't stand the fact that I grow breathless while carrying items such as baggage or boxes, etc.

My weapon of choice is a video fitness program called "Power 90," from www.beachbody.com which dw and I bought a long time ago (1 or 2 years, I think) and have used twice (maybe). I actually wanted to buy Beachbody's newer "P90X" program, but couldn't justify paying for a system when I had not used the first one.

I am totally committed to making this program work for me. Honestly, it has nothing to do with the money I may win (I will, however take it if I do); it has everything to do with me feeling better about myself and improving the odds of my living a long time.

I took "before" pictures to gauge my progress over the next 90 days. I hope to see a dramatic improvement. I am unsure whether I will post my pictures as I progress, or just post them when I'm finished. I feel that I may need to post them progressively, so that I have some form of accountability. I'm sure it's going to be very difficult and I will probably need a push at various stages of the program.

So be forewarned, those few of you who actually read this thing. I do not look pretty with my top off, and that's what I'll be posting.
