Seriously?

Here are some pictures of the damage recent rain has done to my home (Note: they are in reverse order of my exploratory demolition):

A Fun Day

Yesterday was a fun day.

The boss has a 25-foot pontoon boat docked at the local marina. He asked me to help clean it up and make some minor repairs in exchange for using it occasionally.

I took three of the kids and we went to the marina. We helped scrub and clean and then took a spin out on the lake. The kids had a ball, even with the cleaning. I was very impressed with how well-behaved they were! They didn't seem to bother my boss too much, either. Yay kids!

I really enjoyed myself. The water is absolutely a wonderful place to be. I am looking forward to a fun summer of splashing and swimming and fishing and whatever else happens on the lake.

Thanks to the boss for everything!

This July 4th weekend was relaxing and fun.

I spent some time with the kids at the local lake, where we had some fun in the sun. Later, we went to our local minor league baseball team's "fireworks" game, where our team won and then we enjoyed a great fireworks show!

Saturday (the 4th) we all enjoyed burgers, dogs and firecrackers. Actually, I had an assortment of ground-based fireworks that the kids got a big kick out of. We all enjoyed ourselves.

I again thank GOD for my family and abundant blessings!

My blog bio says that one of my passions is flying. That is true. I haven't shown it lately, though; my pilot log shows that, until recently, I hadn't flown in almost two years. I'm changing that - as of now.

Two weeks ago, I went flying with my instructor. A brand new plane that I have never flown before called a Piper Arrow (designated PA-28R). It has retractable landing gear (hence the "R" in the designation) and a constant-speed propeller. This adds a bit of complexity to the process of flying the airplane and therefore some extra time with a qualified flight instructor is required before I can be allowed to take to the skies solo in this particular flying machine.

I went flying again tonight in this great aircraft, this time with my instructor and a fine young man from my church (I'll call him "R"). R rode in the back and took some great pics. See below!

Everybody should learn how to fly.

Favorite Things - Again

In the past I have posted about my boys and how we camp, play Lego's, and other things. Well, my dd and I enjoy doing stuff together, too. Today we decided it was a good day to put our baker hats on. Check it out:

Dd taking advantage of a photo op.

Dd scooping batter into the muffin pan.Very intent, isn't she?

Wow, Dad - that's HOT!

Muffins in the oven!

15 minutes and they're done!

Pop 'em out of the pan...

...and VOILA!

They are OH SO YUMMY!

I truly enjoy doing these things with my kids. My work schedule has been such that I have been able to enjoy such activities again. I can't describe how wonderful such a simple thing as spending 30 minutes with my daughter baking muffins can be. Thank you GOD for my wife and children!
