...it really does.
My cousin is trying really hard to get me into it and I told him I would try it. So I figure I better get on it so I can shut him up. ;)
Seriously, though, I want to shape up again. I hate the way I look in the mirror. I hate the way I feel every day. So I figure I can't complain about it unless I'm actually doing something about it, right?
I ran this evening. It was, over all, a not pleasant experience. I ran for 27 minutes. It took me 11.5 minutes to run one mile. I ran for one minute, then walked for one minute. I'm trying to work up to running the whole time. Every step was like a shockwave through my body. I could envision the fat bouncing in waves as my foot hit the ground. No - actually, I could feel the fat jiggling. Hate that.
Anyway, I did it. And I'm ging to do it again tomorrow. Ugh.

Wow... You must have a fantastic cousin who cares enough to bug your behind into doing something like running.
Running sucks...for now. I quote one of the best movie lines of all time from Back to the Future III (you'll have to imagine the deep southern cowboy drawl. "Run for fun? What the hell kind of fun is that?"
No one understands why people run until they experience of running "in shape". Running out of shape is painful, very painful, especially if you push too hard or too fast. I'd encourage and every other day start to allow your body to recover and build more slowly towards running the whole way every day or 3-4 times a week.
I couldn't say it better than my 8 year old son who recently ran his first race ever, 5 miles, voluntarily I might add. Shortly after the race, I asked him how he felt about the 6 weeks of training before the race. He said, "It was really hard Daddy, but today it was all worth it."
Keep it up, Charlie. It'll take a while, but someday I promise you'll say it was all worth it too.
